A really good simulation , modeling and rendering video i came across today check the video below by Jason

Over the last 4 weeks, jason modeled and textured the plane, and reworked the fluid sims from his original test(below), using a newer build of Naiad.

This simulation took 7 hours for 350 frames on a
8 core Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU X5472 @ 3.00GHz
the average particle count was 5.93 million a frame
the foam/whitewater took 57min to generate
the max particle count was 2.93 million
Shading and lighting is done in Houdini, jason used Mantra PBR for all the render passes and comped it in Nuke.
